Dr Kevin Howe leads the Eukaryotic Annotation team, which is responsible for the gene annotation and comparative genomics components of Ensembl, and EMBL-EBI’s contribution to WormBase and the Alliance of Genome Resources.

Prior to joining EMBL-EBI, he worked on a number of projects on the Wellcome Genome Campus (including Pfam and Ensembl), and spent three years at the Cancer Research UK Cambridge Institute helping to establish their core bioinformatics facility. Dr Howe originally trained as a computer scientist at Imperial College London, going on to complete a PhD in computational biology in the lab of Richard Durbin at the Wellcome Sanger Institute.
